09-05-2007· One of the more pressing questions - looks like the previous owner was using thin, flat, rubber-looking belts between the motor and spindle, maybe 3/4" wide. The instructions for another of my machines, a Hommel UWG, recommends silk belts for using as a grinder. I have no belts for the Hommel, and the Hybco needs new.

Here's a thread in the antique machinery forum I started trying to find the maker of one I just aqquired, it has a pic or two if that helps. Mine is flat belt but the design would be easily converted to vee belt
